Mr. Vargo is a different type of business lawyer. Unlike most other lawyers he has extensive real world business experience. He spent a decade in a variety of managerial and technical positions in the telecommunication space and the insurance industry where he designed and implemented state of the art computer systems. He was on the board of a large non-profit entity, and its outside general counsel, helping to guide the entity through its legal and financial troubles. He was the managing partner in a highly successful boutique litigation firm. That business experience, combined with over two decades of business litigation and legal counseling, enables him to provide a unique perspective to his clients to help them resolve their legal issue in the most efficient manner possible. At times artful negotiation is the answer; other situations may require his skill as a tenacious trial attorney and still other circumstances involve guidance directed to the client.
The matters that he handles often involve the most complex legal issues relating to such areas as business contracts, restrictive covenants, trade secrets and other intellectual property, construction and other areas. His litigation practice is rooted in both federal and state courts. His counseling practice extends to both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations of all sizes and involves issues such as cybersecurity and business asset protection. Beyond his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, he holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the W. Paul Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Mr. Vargo is a member in good standing of the bars of the State of New Jersey, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is also a patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Over the years, he has been active in a number of bar association committees at both the local and national levels. He currently serves as a member of the Internet and Computer Law Committee and as a member of the Business and Commercial Litigation Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He frequently speaks at conferences on legal issues and has authored a number of articles on a wide range of topics, including trade secret protections, cybersecurity, business information management techniques, general litigation strategy and the U.S. Constitution. He was an adjunct professor at Seton Hall Law School, teaching legal research and writing at Seton Hall.
Along with his wife and children he resides in Monmouth County, New Jersey and has been active in his local community.
